Description
Poplar Hall is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, featuring a plastered plaque that indicates it was repaired in 1905. The building is timber-framed with rendered margins around rough cast panels and has a plain tile roof adorned with some 17th century crested ridge tiles. It has two large red brick ridge stacks with round-headed recessed panels. The structure is two storeys high with attics and follows a hall and cross-wing plan, highlighted by a central gable on the facade. The gable features 17th century moulded barge boards.
The attic has three three-light casement windows, while the first floor has three larger casement windows. On the ground floor, there is a three-light hung sash window to the left of a 18th century six-panelled door, which is framed by a moulded wooden architrave and a bracketed hood with soffit panels. To the right of the door, there are two casement windows. Inside, the hall features stop-chamfered ceiling beams, a 17th century closed string oak staircase with splat balusters, and 17th century plank doors.
