Description

The Chinese Bridge is a footbridge located on the west side of The Causeway in Godmanchester. It was originally built in 1827, designed by architect Gallier, but was reconstructed in facsimile in 1960. The wooden structure was replaced in 2010. The bridge features a single span with a parapet made of solid gault brick, topped with stone coping at either end. The central section of the bridge is entirely timber, designed in a Chinese Chippendale style, which is the reason for its name.
