Description
No. 31 Overend is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, with 19th century and later alterations. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with freestone dressings and features a thatched roof with chamfered copings on the north parapet gable. The cottage has a brick stack on the right gable and an ashlar ridge stack with upper courses of brick. It is one storey high with an attic and has a lobby entry and a three-unit plan. The entrance includes a 19th century panelled door and there are three casement windows with wooden lintels, along with two eyebrow dormer windows that also have casements.
Inside, the north room has a cambered mantel beam over an open hearth, while the central room contains a sealed hearth. The building features stop-chamfered cross and axial beams.
