Description
House at 15 Overend, dating from the early to mid 19th century, is constructed from coursed limestone blocks and features roofs made of Collyweston stone slates. It has plastered gable end stacks and a rear stack. The building is two storeys high and has an L-plan layout. Its symmetrical facade includes an embattled parapet that runs continuously across two two-storey canted bay windows, which have glazing bars and top light ventilation. The entrance features an open porch with a pent roof and a six-panelled door. This house was the residence of James Hayes, an iron founder known for inventing the straw elevator, which is now in private ownership.
