Description
Brooklands is an early 19th-century farmhouse constructed from gault brick and topped with hipped slate roofs. The building features a symmetrical Squire plan, standing two storeys tall with single-storey wings or pavilions on either side. The facade consists of five bays, with the central three bays slightly projecting and adorned with a triangular pediment. A deep moulded wooden eaves cornice and frieze enhance the roofline. There are two square chimney stacks.
On the first floor, there are five recessed hung sash windows with glazing bars, which are linked at sill height by a continuous plastered band and topped with cambered brick arches. The ground floor windows are similar but larger. The main entrance is approached by stone steps that are flanked by iron railings. The doorway features a moulded doorcase with panelled reveals and console brackets that support the cornice of the triangular pediment. The entrance includes double half-glazed, panelled doors. The wings or pavilions have open hung sash windows, although the eastern wing has been altered to include inserted garage doors. The interior retains original 19th-century details.
