Description

The Smithy is an 18th-century smithy, with later alterations. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with freestone quoins. The roof is pantiled, and there are brick stacks on the north side and at the rear gable end. The building is single-storied and has a T-shaped layout. There are double-boarded doors facing west, and the main entrance is in an angle facing south. A three-light iron casement window is set into the west gable. The interior retains complete original details. In the 19th century, The Smithy and Vinco Terrace belonged to William Eyres, a farmer and farrier.
