Description
Barnaby House is an 18th-century house with alterations from the 19th century. It is constructed of dressed limestone. The roof is stone-slated with end stacks and a coped parapet gable on the right-hand side. The house is two storeys with attics, and includes a rear wing with hipped roof dormer windows and a brick end stack. The main entrance features a four-panelled door with a rectangular fanlight, and a flat canopy with a moulded cornice and soffit panel. Two ground floor canted bay windows have hipped roofs and hung sash windows. The first floor has three replacement twelve-paned hung sash windows. A moulded wooden eaves cornice runs along the top, and there is an eaves cornice to three hipped dormer windows. An outbuilding, one storey and attic with a coped parapet gable to the west, adjoins the main house. Records from the Bedford Estate Maps of 1780, 1818 and 1838 are held at Bedford Records Office.
