Description
Grove Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 17th century. It is timber framed, with plaster rendering and weatherboarding on the southwest gable end. The roof is plain tiled and features a rebuilt ridge stack. The house has two bays flanking a lobby entry, with a narrower chimney bay. At the rear, there is a kitchen in a lean-to outshut that dates from the 18th to 19th century. The building is two storeys high, with three modern small pane casements on the first floor and two on the ground floor, located on either side of the doorway to the lobby entry. The outshut has one storey and an attic. Attached to the northeast end is a single storey addition from the 18th to 19th century, which is also timber framed, weatherboarded, and has a thatched roof. Inside, the farmhouse features braced tie beams and jowled heads on the posts, stop-chamfered wall plates and main beams, and framing of substantial scantling. The roof has clasped side purlins that are wind braced and chamfered.
