Description

Ashfield Cottage is a mid to late 17th century double pile farmhouse. It has a timber frame that is cased in red brick from the 18th century and is rendered. The roof is plain tiled and features red brick end stacks. The building has two storeys and attics, with two later dormers added. On the first floor, there is a range of three casement windows. Flanking the central doorway are two similar windows set in segmental headed arches. To the northwest, there is an adjoining single storey wing from the 19th century, which was formerly used as a brewhouse and bakehouse. The wing is also constructed of brick and has a tiled roof.
