Description
No 18 (Stapenhill) is a mid-18th century farmhouse located on Bluntisham High Street. This two-storey building features attics and is constructed from local yellow brick with red brick details. The roof is made of old plain tiles and has tumbled parapet gables, along with end stacks that have paired shafts.
The façade is symmetrical with a five-window range of hung sashes that include glazing bars and are set in segmental arches with keystones and red brick dressings at the first floor. Flanking the central panelled door, which has a flat canopy and a modillioned cornice supported by scroll brackets, are similar windows. A band with a chequered brick pattern runs between the storeys. At the rear, there is a two-storey 19th-century brick and slate extension.
Inside, the farmhouse boasts a fine open-string staircase with turned balusters. The room on the right-hand side features complete raised and fielded panelling, along with a bolection moulded chimney piece. Original doors are present in all rooms. The building also has a fire plaque.
