Description

Island Hall is a mid-18th century building, altered in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and has a tile roof. The building is symmetrically designed with a front of seven windows. A slightly projecting central three-storey portion has a pediment, flanked by two-storey side blocks. A central porch features Doric columns and an entablature. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within architraves supported by console brackets. The window dressings themselves are a mid-19th century alteration. Parapets, old tile roofs, and brick stacks are visible. The rear elevation mirrors the front. Inside, a good staircase features twisted balusters and a fine arched screen. A contemporary stable wing, constructed of red brick and featuring a hipped roof, stands to the left of the main building. The stable wing has sash windows with glazing bars. A cupola has been removed.
