Description

No. 17 Post Street is a 17th or earlier timber-framed house of L-shape. It is two storeys high, with parts of the frame plastered and others exposed, and has a tile roof. The front elevation to the east features projecting upper storeys, a plastered cove beneath the eaves, and an early 18th century doorway with an eared architrave and six sunk panels. The ground floor has sash windows, and above them are sliding sash windows, with shutters on the ground floor. A projecting gable with a later bay window is at the south end. There are two 2-storey rear wings.
