Description
Tree Top Cottage is a late 16th century or early 17th century cottage located on the north side of High Street in West Perry. It is timber-framed and rendered, with a wall to the south made of 19th century brick. The cottage consists of three bays and a narrower bay, which may have been used for a through passage. It features a thatched, half-hipped roof with a rebuilt ridge stack. The building is one storey with attics and includes one modern dormer and three modern windows at the ground floor. Access to the through passage is through a modern, gabled, thatched porch. There is an adjoining former dairy bay to the north of the east end.
Inside, the central bay was originally open to the roof. A floor frame was added in the 18th century or later, made of softwood. The north wall plate has a tabled scarf joint, and the stone hearth has been replaced with a modern version.
