Description
Tollington House is a mid-19th century house located on the south side of High Street in Somersham. It is built of gault brick and features a hipped slate roof with paired brackets at the boarded eaves. The house is two storeys high and has plain pilasters across its four bays. At the first floor, there is a four-window range of hung sashes set in flat arches. The ground floor includes two canted bays, each topped with hipped slate roofs and scroll brackets at the eaves. The hung sashes in these bays have margin lights.
The entrance porch is notable for its moulded stone coping and stepped parapet, leading to a double recessed doorway with a four-centred arch. The panelled double doors are topped with a fanlight. At the rear, there is a later stair turret made of Warboys white brick, which has a pyramidal slate roof with a steep pitch. A four-centred arch window in the stair turret features coloured glass.
