Description
Orchard Dene, also known as 10 Manor Lane, is possibly one of the original manor farmhouses of the parish. It has three building periods: a crosswing to the south from the late 15th century, a hall and cross-passage from the late 17th century, and a crosswing to the north from the mid 16th century. The structure is timber framed and plastered, featuring plain tile roofs that are half-hipped on the north crosswing. It has two ridge stacks and stands two storeys high. The building has five first floor windows of various sizes with glazing bars, and three ground floor windows, including two plain tiled canted bay windows flanking a 18th-century panelled door. The interior reveals an exposed timber frame, restored inglenook hearths, and 18th-century panelling and doors. The building has recently been renovated.
