Description
The Limes is a mid to late 17th century cottage that originally had three bays and was extended in the 19th century with an additional room to the east and a wing at the rear. The building is timber framed and rendered, with the west gable end and extensions made of brick. It features a tiled roof with a ridge stack and an end stack, and is one storey high with attics. There are three dormers and three windows, along with an early 19th century doorway that has a pediment above it. The ground floor entrance includes a four-panelled door with a fanlight.
Inside, the centre bay reveals original floor framing, although the inglenook hearth, while in its original location, has been rebuilt. The room to the west, which was originally the kitchen, has a main beam that is chamfered and stopped, and the inglenook in this room is a later addition. There is also a cellar beneath this room, and part of the original roof remains intact.
