Description
Leverington House is a house built in 1852 in a castle style for Thomas Peatling, a local brewer and wine merchant. It is constructed from gault brick and features an embattled parapet and crow-stepped gable ends, with ridge stacks. The main range has a central canted bay and service wings at the rear, and the house is two storeys high. There are dripmoulds and splayed reveals on two gothic casements, as well as two cross-frame casements at the ground floor. The canted bay contains a similar gothic casement at the first floor and three full-length casements set in two-centred arches, two of which have traceried heads. The entry is located in the east gable end, accessible by a flight of three steps. The west gable end features an embattled oriel window with gothic casements. It is noted that the house may incorporate part of the lantern from the Octagon Church in Wisbech.
