Description

The Duke's Head is a late 17th century coaching inn that was refronted in the mid 19th century. It is constructed from local brown brick and features a slate roof with end stacks. The building has two storeys with attics and includes a 19th century extension on the right side. The street-facing facade is painted brick, accented with rusticated stone quoins and window architraves. It has two gabled casement dormer windows, four recessed hung sash windows on the first floor, and four similar windows on the ground floor. There are two main entrances, with a central doorway that is boarded. The building is situated at a focal point in the street, opposite the church and the entrance to the Market Place.
