Description
The building is an early 17th-century house that has been converted into stables and outbuildings, located at Number 86 Swaffham Prior House. A wing, which is now used as a garage, was added later in the 17th century. The structure is timber-framed, with the first floor rendered and the ground floor underbuilt in red brick laid in English bond from the late 17th century. It features a plain tiled roof with a ridge stack and has a layout that includes a parlour, hall, and service bay, with a cross-passage between the hall and service bay. The building has two storeys. While many of the openings were altered during the conversion, the cross-passage openings remain intact. On the first floor, there are late 17th-century or early 18th-century iron casements with two or three leaded lights, as well as a four-light horizontal sliding sash. The rear range, now the garage, is made of late 17th-century red brick in English bond and is topped with a late 19th-century clock turret on the gable end.
