Description

This is a former stable building, located south of the gatehouse, and now converted into a cottage and garage. The core of the structure dates to the 16th century and was altered in the 19th century. It has a roughly L-shaped footprint. One range is single-story, built with English garden wall bond brick and has a tiled roof. The west front features four cambered openings with 19th-century metal casements, along with a tall cambered window and a tall cambered doorcase. A gable, situated at the angle of the L-shape, has bargeboards and incorporates a 20th-century top-opening sash window and two casements. The south elevation has seven late 19th-century casements and a doorcase with a flat hood supported by brackets. Adjacent to the main house is a stone mounting block and a section of stone setts. Inside the stable cottage, there are chamfered cross beams, some remnants of hay rings, and some stall partitions. The northern section contains three pointed arched wall niches, likely designed to hold a lantern. The roof is a renewed structure with through purlins, angled queen struts, and a ridge piece.
