Description

This is a late 16th or early 17th century cottage located on the east side of Fordham Isleham Road, Fordham. The building is timber-framed and was subsequently plastered, with a plastered plinth. It comprises two units, with a central stack and a lobby entry, accompanied by a rear kitchen wing. The roof is covered in asbestos sheeting, with a local brick stack set behind the ridge. The cottage has one storey and an attic. The front features two flush-framed, four-paned hung sash windows, and a half-glazed door within a wooden doorcase. Internally, there is a sealed inglenook hearth, although the roof has not been inspected. Local tradition suggests the cottage occupies the site of the original vicarage.
