Description
St John's Farmhouse is a 16th to 17th century house made of brick and stone, which incorporates a medieval timber frame. The north front of the building is now plastered, while the south front features medieval stonework. It has two storeys and attics, with three windows on both the north and south fronts. The windows on the north front are modern casements with glazing bars and stucco hood moulds. The roof is steeply pitched and tiled, with stopped gables and three gabled dormers on the south front. This building is listed as grade I due to its close association with the remains of a medieval hospital. St John's Farmhouse is part of a group that includes a dovecote, a wall, barns to the north and southwest of the farmhouse, and several other properties on West End.
