Description

Oak Farmhouse is a timber-framed and plastered farmhouse, largely dating to the late 16th century with a main range added in the 17th century replacing an earlier hall. The building has a hipped pantile roof, a red brick ridge stack, and a large lateral stack to the cross wing, partially concealed by a 19th-century painted brick and slated-roof dairy. It is two storeys high with attics. The front facade features three first-floor and three ground-floor casement windows. A panelled door is located in a lobby entry position on the right-hand side, and a modern door sits in a porch on the left. Inside, the three-bay cross wing contains a large inglenook hearth, exposed wall frames, and stop-chamfered ceiling beams with run-out stops. One first-floor window is an ovolo mullioned design. The 17th-century range features sealed hearths and stop-chamfered ceiling beams, supported by a side purlin roof.
