Description

The Thatched House is a cottage dating from the 16th century, with extensions added in the late 17th century to the north-west and modern alterations to the north-east. It features a timber frame with plaster, thatched and red pantile roofs, and has one red brick chimney stack. The building is one storey with an attic and follows an original three-unit plan. There are three casement dormer windows, four ground floor casement windows, and a boarded door. Inside, the cottage retains a complete and substantial timber frame, with floor joists laid flat and some original painted decoration. It also has a large inglenook hearth with niches and a side purlin roof.
