Description
No. 139 on The Street is a cottage dating from the early 16th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a thatched roof. The building features a ridge stack located to the left of the center and an end stack on the right side. It is one storey high with an attic and has a three-unit plan, including a rear outshut that serves as a service bay. The cottage has four modern casement windows and one casement dormer window, along with a modern door positioned in a lobby entry. Inside, the cottage retains complete exposed wall frames and floor frames made of substantial timbers. There is a moulded plank and stud partition separating the hall from the service end, and an inglenook hearth is present.
