Description

No 20 High Street is a house built in the early 20th century, featuring an original 16th-century timber-framed cottage as its rear wing. A notable feature is the fine 15th-century carved mantel beam, which may have been relocated to the inglenook of the rear wing; it resembles similar beams found in buildings along the Suffolk border. The rear wing is timber-framed and plastered, topped with a red pantile roof. The main house is constructed of white gault brick and has a hipped slate roof with a central ridge stack. It is two storeys high and has two recessed four-paned hung sash windows on each floor, along with a half-glazed door on the ground floor, both featuring cambered brick arches.
