Description

This barn, located 200 yards northeast of the Burystead, dates from the early to mid-17th century. It is constructed of red brick in English bond and sits on a high base. The roof is thatched with reeds, hipped at the north end and featuring a parapetted gable at the south end, which does not have tumbling. The side walls have loop openings, while the east wall has enlarged cart openings. The barn consists of five bays and is aisled. Inside, it features two-stage Queen strut roof trusses supported by braced tie beams with jowled heads, along with staggered butt purlins.
