Description

This is a 15th-century timber-framed and plastered building, located at 7-13 Silver Street. The eastern end of the building features some dressed stonework, including a stone corbel to the stopped gable. It is two storeys high. The upper storey was originally jettied, and some of the original exposed joists remain visible. The ground storey was later built out with brick. The building has five windows, which are spaced irregularly and are 20th-century casements. A western extension incorporates an original window with five lights and moulded mullions. The roof is tiled, using old Cambridgeshire tiles, and features a stopped gable at the east end, along with two old brick chimney stacks: one rectangular and the other L-shaped with diagonally set shafts. Nos 1 and Nos 5 to 13 (odd) form a group.
