Description
2 The Gallery is a late 18th century or early 19th century house made of buff-colored brick. It is now part of a series of boarding houses for the King's School. The building has two storeys and features a two-window range, with double-hung sash windows on the ground floor and casement windows with vertical glazing bars on the first floor. The roof is slate. This house is included for its group value.
It is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 8 consecutively, No 9 (the stables to the Bishop's Palace), The Great Hall (the Bishop's residence), The Queen's Hall (the Headmaster's House), the wall to the garden of the Bishop's residence, the Guest Quarters of the Monastery, the walls to the Guest Quarters of the Monastery, Ely Porta, Prior's House (a boarding house of the King's School), Prior Crauden's Chapel, the walls to the garden of Prior's House, Ely Porta, the Barn and Storehouse of the Monastery, and the wall to the Barn and Storehouse, along with the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, the Bishop's Palace, and the wall to the Bishop's Palace.
