Description

The fence along the street frontage of the main block of the Fitzwilliam Museum was built between 1841 and 1842. It features a stone balustrade resting on a moulded plinth, which is divided by pedestals, creating five bays on either side of the central gateway. The base of the plinth is vermiculated. The fence includes cast iron gates and a cheveaux-de-frise mounted on cast-iron brackets.
