Description
This is a house located at 9 Wilberforce Road, built in 1937 by D. Cosens. It features whitewashed brick laid in Flemish bond and has a bituminous felt roof, representing the Modern Movement style. The house is two storeys tall with a roof patio and has a rectangular plan that includes a recessed corner section at the southeast corner.
The entrance front faces west and consists of a three-window range. To the left of center is a glazed Crittall door beneath a projecting flat porch hood that extends over the garage to the left. To the right of the door are one single-light and one two-light Crittall window. On the first floor, there are two five-light and one two-light Crittall windows. The flat roof has a plain parapet.
The roof patio contains a single room surrounded by wrap-around Crittall windows, topped by a flat canopy roof supported by circular-section iron posts. The south and east elevations feature Crittall windows in various arrangements, including six-light and five-light casements that wrap around the southeast external angle. There is a first-floor balcony on the south elevation, accessed via a four-light Crittall French window.
Inside, there is a plain staircase with a boarded balustrade, and the kitchen fittings remain intact.
