Description
This is a row of ten terraced houses, numbered 1 to 10, dating to circa 1840, with number 1 specifically dated 1842. The houses are constructed of grey gault brick. They are two storeys in height, although numbers 6 and 7 have three windows each. Numbers 3, 4, and 5 each have a single window. The windows are sash windows, with some having glazing bars; numbers 1, 3, and 4 do not have glazing bars. The houses have panelled doors, each with a fanlight above, although number 1 has a modern glass door. A parapet tops the buildings, which have slate roofs. Number 1 was originally the Minister’s house for the Zion Baptist Church on East Road and has since become part of that building, despite appearing visually as one of the Petersfield Terrace houses. Numbers 1 to 10 form a group with the Zion Baptist Church Sunday School, also on East Road.
