Description

This is a late 19th-century Wesleyan Methodist Church and adjoining hall, built in 1872 by E Hoole as part of the Park Estate, on land donated by J G Baxter. The building is constructed of ragstone with ashlar dressings, and has a slate roof.

The church is in the Gothic style, with a projecting gabled porch facing Park Road. The porch has plank double doors with decorative hinges, flanked by two-light windows set beneath parapets. Tall pinnacles are positioned on either side of a central five-light window featuring geometrical tracery, with the smallest lancet windows to the right and left, all featuring stopped drip moulds. The facade facing Avenue Road has a six-window range with buttresses and a porch on the left side.

The hall, also in a similar Gothic style, is located to the left of the church. It also has a projecting porch and three two-light windows flanked by pinnacles.
