Description
The Cottage is a late 18th century to early 19th century cottage orne located in St Martins Without Burghley Park. It is constructed of rendered brick and originally featured a thatched roof, which has since been replaced with tiles. The building consists of one storey and an attic, showcasing Gothic windows with diamond leaded panes. The center of the cottage has a hipped roof with a slightly advanced first-floor window set in a two-centred arch gable. The ground floor features a Gothic doorway flanked by lancet windows. The main roof has semi-conical ends supported by open work wrought iron columns, creating a loggia in front of a canted bay made of red brick with Gothic windows. Additionally, there are two dormers with two-centred arch gables and a large rendered central chimney stack.
