Description
The Gordon Arms Public House is a late 19th-century building designed in the Tudor style, which incorporates a small timber-framed house from the early 17th century in its rear wing. The main structure features a stone ground floor and a jettied timber frame with plaster on the first floor, topped with a Collyweston stone roof that has gabled ends. It stands two storeys high and has a three-window range, with a left-hand gable. There is an eight-sided canted bay window on brackets on the first floor, and the centre of the ground floor projects outward. The windows have ovolo moulded stone and wood mullions and transoms, with leaded panes on the ground floor. The doorways are adorned with moulded four-centred arches. The building has ashlar stacks with modillion cornices.
At the rear, there is a long wing that includes the small early 17th-century house, which has been remodelled. The ground floor is stone, while the first floor is timber-framed and plastered, with a jettied section on the west side and an external stone stack. This wing also stands two storeys high and features a Collyweston stone roof with end stacks, gabled on the east side, along with some modern additions.
