Description
The Village, No. 1, is an early 18th-century stone and brick house. Originally listed as The Rectory, it is situated on the east side of The Village in Orton Longueville. The main facade is of coursed stone rubble with a steeply pitched hipped roof of Collyweston stone. It is two storeys and has an attic, with three windows facing west. The ground floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars, and one segmental bay is constructed of brick. Three flat-roofed dormers are visible. The building has an L-shaped plan with a gable facing east. The south side is red brick, featuring a string course at floor level and three windows. These windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within plain stone architraves with triple keystones. A doorway with a similar architrave to the left of centre is flanked by a moulded and panelled door. A single hipped dormer is present on this side. 19th-century yellow brick ridge stacks are also visible. Inside, a well staircase is open, featuring turret balusters, a column newel, and a moulded handrail. A stone fireplace from the early 18th century is located within the south-facing room on the first floor.
