Description

Eyebury Farmhouse is a late 17th-century stone house, now rendered with ashlar dressings. It has a slate hipped roof. The building is square in plan and symmetrical, with four bays. The front features stone mullion and transom windows, with two-light windows on the outer bays and three-light windows on the inner bays, all within moulded stone frames. Stone long-and-short quoins, eaves, and a string course are also present. A central stone doorcase has a rectangular fanlight and a cornice supported by console brackets. The side elevations have three bays each. Two large ashlar stacks with cornices are visible. A lower, two-storey wing extends at the rear (west), containing stone mullioned windows and a stone door surround with a moulded panel above. The interior largely dates to the early 19th century. The cellar contains a medieval octagonal stone pier, supporting a stopped chamfer ceiling beam with run-out stops, which is likely to be a remnant of an earlier building on the site.
