Description

The Market Cross is a 14th-century village cross located on the south side of Glinton Road in Helpston. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a circular base consisting of four steps. On top of this base stands a large octagonal pedestal that is crenellated and has panelled sides, adorned with crocketed gables and relief pinnacles. Above the pedestal rises an octagonal shaft, which is approximately 8 feet tall and sits on an octagonal base. The structure is also recognized as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
