Description
39 and 41 Wisbech Road is a mid-19th century gate lodge that has been converted into two dwellings. It is constructed of gault brick and features a pyramidal slate roof with a tall brick chimney at the apex. The building has a central gabled dormer on both the north and south roof slopes. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has an added single-storey lean-to on the south side. The plan is square with two bay elevations.
On the north side, there is an entrance doorway framed in timber, set under a segmental brick arch, leading to a vertical board door. To the right on the ground floor, there is a 20th-century casement window in an enlarged opening. On the first floor, there are two early 20th-century two-light casement windows in their original openings, also with segmental brick arches. Similar windows are found on the other sides, all featuring upper transoms and glazing bars. The building is listed for its group value.
