Description

Table Hall is a Grade I listed building located in the precincts of Peterborough, with origins in the 15th century and alterations from the 19th century. The right-hand wing is two storeys high, constructed of ashlar stone with a stone slate roof and a brick chimney on the right. It features a 19th-century two-light trefoil-headed window with a quatrefoil in an arcaded head above a bay window that has a crenellated parapet and shields on the cornice, along with lancet-headed lights. To the right, there is a plain four-light casement window. An arched doorway with a drip moulding is situated below two smaller older windows.

The left-hand wing, which is at a right angle to the main structure, has a later stone chimney at the storm gable end and also has a stone slate roof. This wing is two storeys tall, with the upper storey overhanging on wooden bressumers. It contains two three-light windows with flush frames and double-hung sashes that do not have glazing bars, as well as two ground-floor windows and a boarded-up door. The left wing is rendered with brick infill of a half-timber frame and features a stone buttress and a rubble plinth. Originally, Table Hall was part of the Infirmary. Inside, the roof is supported by braces and collar beams. The building is currently undergoing restoration, which began in 1970. Table Hall is part of a group that includes the Deanery, Canory House and Wall, the Infirmary, and Nos 16 to 20.
