Description

Whitehill is a large house dating from 1869. The design is attributed to T.C. Sorby. It is constructed of plum-coloured Luton grey bricks with ashlar dressings, and has pitched tile roofs, brick stacks with battered ashlar plinths and cornicing, and coped stone gable ends on brick kneelers. The house is two storeys and attics, with a two-gabled front facing the garden. The rear elevation has various other gables. There are two one-storey bay windows on the garden front: one is canted, and the other is oblong. Similar bays are found on the south front. A recessed porch is present, above which the wall is carried up to form a parapet at eaves level. The windows are either mullioned or mullioned and transomed.
