Description
Stotfold Mill is a mill built in the early 19th century, with additions and alterations made in the late 19th century. The earlier section features inscribed bricks that read "W.P.", "G.Bally 1825", "R.P.", and "C.H.". This part has a ground floor made of gault brick and upper floors covered with weatherboarding, while the later sections are constructed entirely of gault brick. The mill has slate roofs and consists of an original block that is three storeys high with attics, along with a later four-storey block to the north.
The main block has sash windows with glazing bars set in moulded surrounds, arranged asymmetrically. There are two plank doors each on the ground and first floors. A sack hoist projects from the attic to the right of the centre. The mill is said to retain its overshot wheel and machinery. At the rear, there is a late 19th-century boilerhouse featuring a tall square-section chimney with a diamond pattern in red brick. The left-hand block has a three-window range, with all sash windows under red brick cambered heads.
