Description

This is a house, originally a mill house, now divided into two separate dwellings. The core of the building likely dates back to the 17th century, with substantial rebuilding in the early 19th century and further extensions in the later 19th century to the right-hand side. The walls are cement rendered and feature incised detailing to imitate the appearance of ashlar stone. The roof is slate-covered. The front facade has three storeys and originally four windows, though the right-hand section was extended. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars; the later windows on the right-hand side are set deeper within the wall. They are all surrounded by moulded render with cornices. The doorway in the centre of the left-hand section has a partly glazed door within a simple surround, topped with a moulded render cornice supported by scroll brackets. Multiple brick chimneys run along the ridge of the roof. To the right-hand end is a later 19th-century range of gault brick outbuildings with slate roofs, featuring gables facing the road. These outbuildings have single-light casement windows with glazing bars in the attic space, and a segmental-arched carriage entrance in the centre with plank doors.
