Description
The obelisk at the south end of the long drive is a memorial erected in memory of Henry John Robert Osborn Esq., who died in a collision in the English Channel on 29 March 1889. The inscription on the east elevation reads: "In memory of Henry John Robert Osborn Esq., who perished in a collision in the English Channel 29 March 1889. Erected by many friends in token of sincere regret for the loss of a good neighbour and true sportsman." Made of granite, the obelisk features a plain design and stands on a rectangular plinth, which is set on a base of three steps, making the entire structure approximately 5 metres high. It is included in the register for its historic interest.
