Description

This is a late 19th-century Italianate terrace of 14 buildings, numbered 4 to 14 Church Square, Leighton Buzzard. The terrace was designed by W.C. Reed around 1855. It is constructed of yellow brick with a stucco-faced basement, ground floor, and dressings to the upper floors. The buildings are three storeys high with basements and attics, and have a Welsh slate roof with a bracketed eaves entablature. The terrace features chamfered quoins, projecting end buildings, and sash windows arranged in a 3:12:3 pattern. The ground floor has segmental arches, while the first floor has architrave surrounds, friezes, and cornices. The second floor displays eared architrave surrounds. Eight oval dormers light the attics. Buildings numbered 2 to 14 form a cohesive group.
