Description
The headstone, made of limestone, is located approximately 2 meters south of the east bay of the nave in St Mary's churchyard. It dates back to around 1711 and was erected by Hezekiah Walker of London, a plumber, in memory of his beloved mother and father. The inscription commemorates Thomas Walker of Leighton, who died on May 4, 1705, at the age of 77, and mentions his wife Ann, though part of the text is illegible. The upper part of the headstone features carved decorations, including a pick and shovel surmounted by two skulls, flanked by winged hourglasses with trumpets and a scythe, all framed by scrollwork carving along the upper edges.
