Description
A row of cottages dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, with 19th-century alterations. The buildings are timber-framed, largely with colourwashed brick and plaster infill, though the right-hand portion has pebbledash render. They have thatched roofs. The left-hand part is a two-story, T-shaped plan with a gable end. To the right of this is a one-story block with attics. Number 9 has a carriageway to the left, supported by timber piers, open to the gable end. It features a three-light casement window on the ground floor, a two-light casement above, and a two-light casement in a gabled dormer window above the carriageway; all have leaded lights. Number 10 has two small, single-story, 19th-century canted bays with metal casement windows and gabled roofs. The first floor has one single-light window and two two-light windows with leaded lights. A red brick multiple ridge stack is located at the junction with the gable. The right-hand part of the row has two three-light casement windows on the ground floor and one gabled dormer with a two-light window, again all with leaded lights. A red brick double ridge stack is also present. There are three thatched gabled porches; number 9 is of colourwashed brick with a plank door, while numbers 10 and 11 are open, supported on timber, with number 10 having a plank door and number 11 a part-glazed door. Two timber porches have plain bargeboards, while the two canted bays have decorative bargeboards and finials.
