Description
Cranfield War Memorial was erected around 1920. It features a plain stone cross with chamfered corners, set on an octagonal plinth and a stepped base. A cast metal sword is attached to the north-west side of the cross. The names of the fallen are inscribed on the plinth, listing forty-three individuals who died in the First World War and nine from the Second World War. The memorial is surrounded by a gravel path and flower beds, and it is enclosed by low metal fencing with a pedestrian gate that opens from High Street to the west.
The inscription reads: "IN LOVING AND GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THOSE CRANFIELD MEN WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR KING AND COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WARS. 1914-1919 AND 1939-1945 THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE."
