Description
The stables to The Lodge, built in 1869-70, are a single-storey structure with attics, constructed from gault brick and topped with a clay tile roof featuring gable coping. The left gable end has paired chimney stacks that resemble those on the main house, while the right end is adorned with a stone finial. The building features dentil eaves and three gabled dormers, each with similar finials. The central dormer includes four tiers of doveholes arranged in a triangular pattern, and all dormers have 4-light mullion casements with drip moulds. A central clock tower, which is tile hung and has a pointed roof, adds to the structure's character. Although the rear elevation has been extensively altered for current office use, it still retains a deep eaves cornice supported by heavy decorated brackets.
