Description
No. 2 High Street is a house built in the mid-18th century, with 19th-century additions and alterations. It is constructed of red brick. The original section features a hipped tiled roof, while the rear block has a slate roof. The building has truncated remains of a larger two-storey structure and now consists of a two-storey L-plan. The projecting left-hand block and the front wall of the rear block are from the 18th century, while the remainder of the rear block dates to the 19th century. There is a later single-storey block, now used as a garage, within the angle of the L-plan.
The front elevation of the original block has a three-window range of flush sash windows with glazing bars, all featuring segmental heads. The first-floor windows have moulded brick keystones. A moulded brick cornice runs along the top, which is surmounted by a brick parapet with recessed panels.
